Mindstorm
A fearsome & fantastic journey to the heart of the Savage Id.
About Me
- Name: Lead
- Location: Invisible City, North Dakota, United States
Read my book, The Mind-Warp Era. It'll tell you about the real Lead--& his alter-ego, the true Rootboy covered with slime (the Savage Id). Partly a poignant memoir, partly a cosmicomic book, it relays the Id's adventures thru dark dimensions of funereal dread, with Timothy Leary as co-pilot. (The rumors of his death have been greatly exaggerated.)

I wrote some here yesterday, before Car-girl showed up. Mostly, I worked on TC for awhile, then gave up because I'm still not used to my trifocals. Everything blurred together while the 2 ships collided, non-Star Truck. Once I stopped I called Car-girl, who had to wait until 1:15 to pick me up 'cause she had to do some paperwork at the Layout. I had a few specific errands to run: dishwasher detergent at Bi-Mart (the mysterious union of Gay-Mart & Straight-Mart), a bunch of canned goods -- including strawberries -- at the buckadingdong store, & 3 loaves of bread at the bread store. Tasty. Then we went to Pizza Hut. Car-girl treated me to a salad bar & hot wings; the only lunch that I had at home was a cheese sandwich. While Trish worked we could hear her joking about the hamster giving himself blowjobs & the real atomic submarine of our wedding night. When we arrived home I let Trish play Penguins while I took a walk: the cold weather is pretty much over. We ate our leftover sketti, then watched the Buffster kick ass after my bath. This morning I lost my chapstick, but found it when we moved the night stand. At this point, I must cease chronicling the days of my life as it's time to wake up Trish.

Car-girl cover, exposed & another sips right into view
4BF...
Trish is in the shower so I have 15 minutes to chronicle the events of the day. Yesterday we had frozen pizza at the Layout as Trish had taken the day off for a doctor's appointment, only to have him cancel. This morning my vision was extremely blurry due to my new trifocals, though I was able to respond a little to Keith about woofer selection, that he's better off letting the guy at Parts Express calculate it than buying something simply 'cause it'd fit the hole. He'd found a Pyle driver that turned out to be a PA speaker. Once I fixed brecchie for Trish we watched Bedazzled up to the time when she walked to work. I did a little on TC, but the screen blurred over bad & I wasn't able to deal with a long section Ted had written, so I called Car-girl & waited for her on the porch while listening to my stereo. I'd give anything for a good set of pulsating spheres, but who will build the cabinets? When she drove up in her bat-mobile (www.onewest.net/~jbauer/batmans.car) we went to the Iron Claw Credit Union to mail off a money order to Parts Express for my crossover components. Then I transferred the balance into the Trips account. We're still 30 buckadingdongs short on our airline tickets. After the bank Car-girl took me to Bi-Mart for some dishwasher detergent, the buckadingdong store for raviolis & canned fruit -- Trish's favorite, strawberries -- & the bread store. Car-girl treated me to lunch at Pizza Hut, so I had a salad bar & 5 wings. She became really excited about an idea that she wants to patent, so I promised to find the forms for her. In the meanwhile while we waited for Trish we discussed a lot of things. Apparently Trish was talking about Frisky giving himself blowjobs & Clean Noncorean's real atomic submarines. When we came home I headed over to the drugstore for Trish's artane & my Lumagan, but there were no refills on the eyedrops. They faxed Boes so I should be OK tomorrow. I think that once Trish is out of the shower we'll watch the Buffster kick ass.

return of Dr. Diaper
Monday was shot day. Trish & I went upstairs at the Silver Rectangle to let Perky Pam put a spike into my vein & I guess that I just don't know. I became bored with the Center, so I walked home to put Heavy Metal into the machine, then realized I had to pick up some scripts at Western Drug. Christy told Trish that she'd seen me walking by the drugstore so she wondered if I'd been arguing with Cheri. No, I don't argue with her, but she's the reason I don't want to go to the Center anymore. There's also the food & the aggravation.
Yesterday I did some work on "Relayer" while waiting for Car-girl. She's so popular. We went to Bi-Mart for some coffee, then sat around El Taco Loco for awhile & drank diet Mt. Dew. Trish arrived home early as her Physical Therapy appointment had been cancelled. The cab gave her a ride home, anyway. We had sketti for supper.
Today she has an appointment with Dr. Huffman for her bowel movements. She has black shit. She's taking a day off from work, & has asked me this afternoon to show her a little of how to use the keyboard. Fred & I had a long discussion last night over what would be the best way to teach her.

still a little leery
Friday I forget. Temazapam blues -- reminds me, got to pick some more up today, along with more Risperdal & fuck the Science of Church-a-tology! I do remember that we went to the bank, but don't remember what the Layout had for lunch. I do remember that I wiped tables. I'm not sure what I did while Trish was away or what we had for supper.
Saturday morning, Trish played a lot of Penguins rather than doing any housework. Once we got back from Albertson's we called Trish's dad & mom about the tattoo. Ron said she could do what she wanted with her own body. Rosemary asked why I didn't have any tattoos myself. Then Kimothy came by, right while we were on the phone, so I stopped talking & visited with her in sign. When she'd finally left I fixed supper: more fish & chips. We now have a freezer full of chicken thighs as the store had big packs for 79 cents a pound.
Sunday we went to Church in the morning, then El Taco Loco afterwards. Trish started cleaning when she got back, & I gave her a little money to go grocery shopping with. We didn't have much as I thought that I had a $20 & a $10 at the taco joint, but instead I only had $10. It was enough for Trish to buy some nummy treats, though. She did the rest of her cleaning, what she could, but then really turned into Cranky Bear. Since she's going off her Depakote (hopefully, they won't have idiots like I. Ron Steele in the 26th Century), so I'm preparing for the worst. Certainly she had trouble sleeping last night & woke me up to ask about watching TV. Suzanne said no; to put on some music. Tonight we put in what she feels like, even if it is Britney Spears.

Doc Larocque
Wednesday Trish drove to work! A big round of applause for the beautiful Bumble Bee Girl!
Then yesterday we went to Great Falls to see Doc Larocque. I fixed a big brecchie of toasted frog, so I didn't have much of an appetite when we arrived at the Golden Corral, after Trish picked up some new slacks for work at Kame-Apart. Doc Larocque is taking Trish off her Depakote gradually. We see Suzanne in a month to see how it's doing. After the appointment Karen dropped us off at Tattoo York's Forever & Trish had a teddy bear put on her left arm, to match the Bumble Bee on her right. Karen picked some Arby's up for us, then it was Reuben Down the Highway at high velocity towards Invisible City.
After our sammies we went to El Taco Loco & split a plate of fries. They have milk there now. We called Hope when we came home, as we got a real wonderful letter out of her -- she has a new b/f. I hope it works out well for her.
Today I mailed my outline/sample chapter of Mindstorm to the Ned Leavitt Agency. We also stopped at the bank to pick up some money for the weekend. We went over to the Center for a bit. Cheri fixed us some rather chewy steaks & argued about the tattoo. I hope she quits or gets fired or something. I came home to do a crit for Critters, but couldn't read the text, so I won't do another one until I have my trifocals. I'm not rewriting "Astronomy Domine" any more. I'll be re-making/re-modeling "Relayer" today instead.

Lucinda in the Sky with Diamonds
Yesterday (it seems so far away) I received a phone call from the person that I based the character Lucinda Ogdoad on in "Astronomy Domine". Monday morning when I checked my email she said she'd call "sometime during the day". I was hoping that it wouldn't be in the morning, as I'd planned to hang out at the Layout after a stop at the bank. Cheri was out, though, so after Car-girl gave Trish her ride I worked some on the cover letter to Mindstorm, then went to the Invisible Soup Kitchen for lunch, which turned out to be grilled cheese sandwiches & tomato soup -- the same thing I'd have had at home. I played around with the keyboard for awhile, then sat down to watch the Doors. She called sometime during the middle of it, to inform me she can't stand Oliver Stone because of all the violence... well, this doesn't have violence, it has sex; oh, I love gratuitous sex... anyway, she's making a tape of herself playing guitar & mailing it to me.
Just when the movie ended Fred showed up with Trish. He had to pick someone up at the train station, but said that he'd meet her there after work. She had a Caesar salad & a grilled cheese sandwich that I made on the sandwich maker her dad had bought her for her birthday. We went shopping, including buying athlete's foot stuff, then she wanted to watch David Bowie. In the middle of it I ran over to Creative Liesure to rent The Man Who Fell to Earth, about half of which we watched as she had to go to bed early: she had an appointment today with Vickie, which I think did as much damage as it did good.
Just because her boss told Trish that she can have time off from work any time she wants it, she had to wake me up in the middle of the night to demand to take an extra day off from work Friday (Thursday we go to Great Falls) so "[she] could have a 4-day weekend". Vickie told her that she'd make more money off SSI -- but that wouldn't be for 2 months. She's already taking a week off for the 4th of July. I don't see how we're going to live on our small quantity of savings if she starts taking days off at random just to have them off.
Today is TA with Car-girl. I think I'll print up my intro to my novel so she can see. Other than that we'll be shopping at the Village. I wish Trish would get over her fear of driving enough for us to go out there sometimes.

eyesight to the blind -- if only... (smash the mirror)
It's been a difficult week. Wednesday I went in to see Dr. Stremcha. I went to Iron Claw House an hour before, when Lisa was working & Mary making tater tot casserole (what else does she make?). When it came time for my appointment I walked the block to Stremcha's office. First thing, they wanted to photograph the inside of my eye with a digital camera, a process not covered by Medicaid. They apparently changed their minds when they had to use the air-puffer. I hate those things. My pressures were fine, anyway -- but my vision has deteriorated some due to a macular hole. They can correct it to 20/80, & they will be giving me trifocals, which should make using the computer easier. I fired off a bunch of email about it, but Jerome was the only person willing to write back. It's just like with Biggie. no one cares about anyone else in this family now that Mother is in her twilight years.
Thursday I had an appointment with Joe at 11:00. Trish & I walked over there around 9:30, but the Center was closed. Fred picked her up around the time that I went back to the office. The good news is that Joe has been reading Dick, which certainly transcends his Moby Grape. I ate lunch at El Taco Loco.
Friday I skipped the Center, in the interest of finishing "Astronomy Domine". Also, I didn't want to have to put up with Cheri's corned beef & cabbage. She bakes hers, so it's tough & rubbery. They served it in the soup kitchen anyway. Big Fatso tried to get into my business, so I walked out on him. When I came home I finished the short story, then relaxed by listening to "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway". I wish I had a real atomic submarine for it. That might kick-start "Relayer", though at this juncture I'm back to looking for an agent for Mindstorm. Trish had an appointment at Down Under, so it was just about suppertime when she came home. I fixed some of the chicken Trish had bought the other day & watched some TV. Leprechaun 2 was on Sci-Fi, & then TNG on G4. We mutually exasperated VADIS, which is good; something needs to be done about that bitch. I'm laughing at all the Vadisystems I ever knew now that I have a Beautiful Bumble Bee Girl.
Today Trish is doing a lot of cleaning. She wants to use the computer to play Penguins, so bi-bi blog.

the day of savages
Monday Perky Pam shot me & Trish up with haldol again, which I believe is a wonderful drug, in spite of the Science of Church-a-tology. I needed it as I'd just received a "sorry" from ASIM that morning. Car-girl had already agreed to give Trish a ride to work. We played War until Trish left, then I hung around doing very little until we ate: some real atomic submarine sandwiches that I really didn't need cuzza the fat; today we're eating at the Soup Kitchen as Cheri is fixing chicken & she won't take the skin off.
I watched movies for the rest of the day, up until Trish took her bath, when I discovered a 2nd rejection, this time on "Trinities" from Son & Foe, whose vague guidelines offer no insight. I called Ted & he agreed to work on marketing the thing for the meanwhile.
Trish has an appointment with Huffman today for a physical, so she took the day off from work. We decided to skip the Layout to avoid Cheri's cooking. Right now she's doing dishes in the kitchen. Car-girl will be giving us a ride to the Clinic before our TA. If Trish is discovered to have any serious ailments at the Clinic I'll blog some more.

Brave Imperial Aerosel Kings
Shortly after I ate Heavy Metal for the first time (I'm from the planet Uranus) the Moron reviewed a Genesis album that included the song "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway". The Moron thought that Phil Collins (the album followed the shift in vocalists), mistakenly thinking that "Rael, Imperial Aerosol King" referred to "Brave Imperial Aerosol Kings". I wanted to send them a letter correcting this & at the same time relaying some of the non-Rachel viewpoints on Suzanne: tired, her work all done, thinks money, honey, be-on neon.
So the other day I bought the album on CD. Trish & I have it worked out now that we're taking turns buying a CD or DVD a month. She just bought her Britney Spears, which is also in the disc changer. Next month I'm either buying Street Life or the new Blondie.
I still haven't decided what I'm going to do about the speakers. The crossover for the center speaker which I found on PartsExpress.com will cost 43 buckadingdongs, & I'm not certain that I want to spend that much. I'm now considering a $6.00 coil & a $12.00 high-pass filter. I'm also considering changing the crossover in the 2 front speakers from 100 Hz to 250. This would put a peak in the mid to upper bass, compared to what's there now, but the way it sounds now the bass is extremely peaky in the 60-120 Hz range without any true subwoofer 30 Hz tomes, whereas the bass above the crossover is kind of weak. With the center channel speaker, I'm worried about removing the crossover elements from the piezo tweeter, which is the job that most needs to be done -- & we have Trish's tax refund to do it with.
The last couple days have been OK. "Astronomy Domine" just did me, or at least is starting to shape up as the type of thing that Analog would be interested in, given that it's a farce. Saturday Trish & I watched our tape of Battlestar Galactica which we'd taped the night before, then we cleaned Smelly Bear's cage before going to the Soup Kitchen. It's the same old pizza Trish brings home from work every day, but it's stale. Then we bought some groceries at Fat Albertson's. I called Buffalo Bob when we came home. He agreed: Bush's English isn't as good as Hitler's German, but there is a similarity in the way Bush seized power. Now we have all these drug warriors trying to kill people by taking away their medicine.
Trish scrubbed the walls in the kitchen in the afternoon while I worked on my short story. She wanted to make out in the evening, but I was less than adequate. This is because the haldol's in my blood & the blood is in my head. The same thing happened with Jill, but all Dr. Day did was reduce my meds rather than put me on something that actually worked, albeit the side-effects are about the same. Tomorrow we go to the Perky Pam Layout to get a spike into our veins. I want to be ready.

flu
I think that I've caught some kind of bug. Last night I had the chills in bed & had to snuggle up to my Beautiful Bumble Bee Girl. Too tired to rise with or before the alarm clock, I finally had to abruptly run to the bathroom with diarrhea. I did fix us French toast & a couple eggs. Then Trish called around for a ride. Car-girl was unavailable, so Karen agreed to do it. We had to take an extra 60 buckadingdongs out of the bank for the cable bill, then went to McRonald's for a Mr. Fruity. On the way home we picked up Trish's new Britney Spears.

Dr. Diaper, here upon the windshield wiper
Yesterday Trish saw Dr. Pike, an orthopedic surgeon, after having been referred there by her physical therapist. We actually woke her up in time for her breakfast of pancakes, sat around & drank our coffee -- I had one of the frappucinos -- & rode the taxi up to the Invisible Clinic. He x-rayed the shoulder, gave her a shot of cortisone, & now she's complaining that it hurts too bad to go back to work. Her instructions were to wait 4-5 days & if it still hurts make an appointment with Daimon & if he can't fix her tendonitis he'd look at it again.
Car-girl called when I was waiting for my support @ onewest to call back. My ftp is still broken. She was feeling much better & wanted to go out to K-Mart. We picked up a new fanny pack for Trish, a pizza pan (which I used to cook the b-b-q pork loins I'd been marinating), & a zillion rolls of toilet paper. After supper we watched Batman Begins, which we'd rented from the vid-store.
Trish doesn't want to go to work this morning. I'm not sure what to tell her. I hope she can work it out with her boss.

Den of Earth
Friday was Trish's last day of work for the week. She had an appointment with Down Under in the morning hence got a cab ride there; after a jam session Fred & I picked her up -- & went to the Invisible Pet Store, where we bought another hamster. Trish decided to call him "Den of Earth" as after Taarna we had Gloria, so we're sticking to Heavy Metal names for our pets. Unfortunately, the guy at the pet store was a total asshole & charged us an extra 5 bucks. I should've stood up to the guy. Karen promised to speak with him Monday, & if she can't get our $5.00 back for us I may demand it back myself. This guy's nothing but a lazy, heartless bastard.
Speaking of "heartless bastards", Biggie's still in hiding. I hope he is court-ordered into a mental hospital & divorces his wife. It's the only way that he'll ever get better.

Gloria
The hamster's dead. Yesterday after my shot I came home to wait for Car-girl to pick me up & found her hunched over underneath the water bottle. I checked it -- it was full -- then went to feed her; she toppled over into the basement. I shook the cage some but she wouldn't come out.
I played "Blue Sunday" a dozen times on my keyboard before Car-girl came to take us out to Pizza Hut. When we arrived Trish came out to greet us & I gave her the bad news. That night we called Hope & I talked things over with my old friend. I wish that she was still here. I'd just received a letter from her yesterday, & had planned to respond after I heard from Platinum Studios on "The Chemical Marriage", but went ahead & called with the tragic news of the hamster's death.
Gloria passed away about 8:30 last night. We took her out to the dumpster in a plastic bag so that the cats wouldn't eat her. Saturday we're going to buy a new one. We want a female & will name her Taarna II.
